I totally agree that sometimes the best art store is your surroundings. Your options are limitless because you aren't being held back by feeling the need to use conventional art supplies. Using unconventional materials pushes an artist to think outside the box, use objects in completely original ways, and create some of the most unique art out there. Sometimes people get in creative ruts. Making the decision to use an unusual material can be enough to inspire a new piece. Also, art supplies can get super expensive, and as a broke kid trying to make art i can appreciate the the money that can be saved by using unconventional objects. Last year, i made a jelly bean piece. I think it turned out really cool and i was super pleased with the outcome. The only downside is that i can't go near jelly beans without feeling sick, so that kind of sucks.
