I understand people feel the need to make art seem like it has a curriculum and validate the teaching of art, but honestly i think post modern principles or any principle in art is kind of dumb. Why do we have to categorize art? Isn't art supposed to be free form and out of the box? As artist, aren't we supposed to be able to follow no rules? Why are students being forced to develop pieces around a specific element or principle? I would much rather just make something and not try to figure out which pretty little box it is supposed to fit in. I like making art because i don't have to follow rules or guide lines. Knowing vocabulary isn't essential to making art. You just have to have an idea and be able to execute it.
