While looking through the collection, Ralph Helmick and Stuart Schecter's contemporary sculpture, "Rabble" immediately caught my attention. The mixture of butterflies and the colorful palette made me think of my childhood. I was always that little kid wearing colorful outfits chasing after butterflies. I was fascinated that the piece was a butterfly made of smaller butterflies. The idea of making something out of large quantities of a unique material sparked my interest. I had been aware of jelly bean art for quite some time and had always wanted to give it a try. The idea of making something out of candy also made me think of my childhood. The awakening of my inner child made me think of the insane amount of stuffed animals i used to play with. I had a beanie baby elephant, which i creatively named Elephanty. I knew then that i wanted to make a jellybean portrait of my beloved childhood toy. |
