Did you use a source for inspiration, then combine it with your own ideas to make it original? When thinking of an idea for this project, I was stuck. I couldn't think of anything that made me excited. After awhile of staring at a blank page I gave up and started to listen to music. The Kooks new album just came out, so obviously I had to check it out. I came across the song "See Me Now" which made me start to think of eyes. The song inspired me to create something revolving |
around eyes. I had already drawn eyes in almost every medium, so i started to think of different ways I could create an eye. I thought about painting, but I kind of hate painting. Then, I thought of lyrics. What if i used cut outs of lyrics to make an eye. I figured i could print the lyrics on different shades of gray and black, and piece them together to create the basic shape and value. So, thats what I did.
How did you use your own unique ideas in your work?
I had seen people before make images using written words. People would make the font larger for areas of lighter value and the font smaller and closer together for areas of darker value. Last year, i used this method to create a pen drawing of a concert. I have also seen people draw on top of text, but never had i seen someone make a piece using strips of text pieced together, making my idea unique.
